Journey Church has partnered with Arise Africa International since 2008. Arise Africa International is lead by Pastor Godfrey Wanamitsa and his wife Joy. Journey Church supports the Arise Africa Ministry both financially and through short-term mission trips.
Journey Church has supported Arise Africa International financially in the construction of the Bukelaba orphanage. Once completed, the orphanage at Bukelaba (5 square miles) will have separate structure for pre-school age children, Primary School age children (grades K-6), Secondary School age children (grades 7-12) and will house over 500 orphans. The pre-school age portion is now complete and houses around 50 orphans. Construction is currently underway on the Primary and Secondary school phases. Journey Church has given financially in support of the pre-school and secondary school phases of this project (another US non-profit, Ten-Eighteen is currently helping to fund the primary school project).
Once the Secondary School is complete there are plans to construct a medical clinic which will be used in support of the orphanage, and the surrounding community. Journey Church has also provided funds for this project.
Currently Journey Church teams travel to Uganda 2 times per year in support of the Arise Africa International ministry. Journey sends a small team to Uganda in February in support of Pastor/Church Leader training for Arise Africa international. In July, a larger team is sent. This team also participates in Pastor/Church leader training, children’s ministry in local villages and schools, prison ministry, and the hut-to-hut ministry.
