Bible Study Community
Time is a precious commodity. It seems there is never enough to fulfill all of the hopes and dreams we have for our lives. We often face tough decisions regarding the placement of our time and attention. Janette’s story is no different. She faced a decision that required her to think critically and strategically about where she would devote her limited free time.
When Janette started attending Journey, she was not a disciple of Jesus. Journey was the first place that connected with her on a deeply spiritual, practical and emotional level. Prior to Journey, she thought that God demanded perfection before she could enter into a relationship with Him. However, she soon realized that God had already accepted her as she was.
Janette soon joined the women’s Bible study group on Tuesday nights. However, since a new study was already underway, she considered waiting until the study was complete before fully engaging. While Bible study was important to Janette, she wanted to begin focusing on her health as well. She thought perhaps the evenings she was spending in the Bible study could be spent in the gym instead. She faced a dilemma. Should she continue with the study, or should she opt for the gym? Just when she resolved to skip the study, she was reminded through a daily devotional of the importance of biblical community in the growth of disciples. With fresh motivation, Janette soon returned to her Bible study group.
As a result of prioritizing her time, she discovered genuine joy, courage, and peace through a relationship with Jesus. Because Janette made a conscious choice to spend time with a group of ladies who challenged her to walk with Jesus, Janette’s life was forever changed. Janette understood the lasting value of eternal time investment. How are you investing your time?
